Hello and welcome to Women in
the Coaching Arena podcast.
2
:I'm so glad you are here.
3
:I'm Jo Lott, a business mentor
and ICF accredited coach
4
:Microphone (Samson Q2U Microphone):
and I help coaches to
5
:build brilliant businesses.
6
:I know that when you prepare to enter
the arena, there is fear, self doubt,
7
:comparison, anxiety, uncertainty.
8
:You can tend to armor up and
protect yourself from vulnerability.
9
:In this podcast, I'll be sharing
honest, not hype, practical and
10
:emotional tools to support you to make
the difference that you are here for.
11
:Dare greatly.
12
:You belong in this arena.
13
:Hello, welcome to episode 59
of women in the coaching arena.
14
:I am so glad you are here.
15
:I'm super excited to record this
episode today on what my most
16
:successful clients have in common.
17
:I'm reading a book at the moment about
how your feelings, dictate your life.
18
:So if you allow yourself to
continuously tell yourself that you
19
:are stuck on something or overwhelmed
20
:or there's no clients out there.
21
:Or any of those things that is going
to be your reality, because you are
22
:not going to see opportunities that
exist right in front of your eyes.
23
:It's like, if you are buying a car,
And you choose that car you want.
24
:Suddenly everywhere along the
road, you see oh gosh that's
25
:the car we're going to get.
26
:That's the car we're going to get.
27
:And you would never have noticed it
before because you weren't looking for it.
28
:So I think what you focus on grows.
29
:So even if there are no clients
right now in your roster, Keep
30
:reflecting on your previous
clients, how could you get better?
31
:Ensure that you are always
focussing on what your wins
32
:are, what you're grateful for.
33
:That doesn't always
need to be new clients.
34
:For me this week, pairing up with
one of my most successful clients
35
:as a accountability partner.
36
:And we've had our first call and I
made huge progress in just 30 minutes
37
:of us chatting back and forth.
38
:And we both made big progress on things
that had been keeping us stuck for ages.
39
:It is a mindset thing.
40
:And that is what is going to
carry you through in business,
41
:not just the practicalities.
42
:And I think.
43
:That mindset piece and the community
piece is massively underrated.
44
:So let's talk about the five
mindsets that I see mirrored
45
:in my most successful clients.
46
:First up, they celebrate their wins and
look for the positives, even when it
47
:doesn't feel like there are any positives.
48
:I send all of my business of
coaching clients, a gratitude
49
:journal when they sign up with me.
50
:Because this really is the
key to a successful business.
51
:If you cannot focus on what has gone well,
Then you are going to continuously focus
52
:on the negative, which is going to attract
more of that negative into your life.
53
:So it's a really, really important thing.
54
:And at the beginning of all of our
calls, I always say what's gone well
55
:this week, because it's not a question
that you ever would ask yourself.
56
:Therefore your brain is never
seeking an answer to that question.
57
:And when you're not asked that question
you can quickly sink into lack.
58
:And it's not going to work and
procrastination and all of the things.
59
:So it's a really, really important
practice to celebrate your wins.
60
:James clear, backs this up in his
book, atomic habits and says that in
61
:order to stay motivated, your brain
needs to measure incremental progress.
62
:So if you are not seeing your own
progress and remember your brain will
63
:not allow you to see your own progress,
unless you consciously look for it.
64
:So that is one of the most important
parts, because if you cannot stay
65
:motivated, you will not succeed.
66
:Next up is commitment.
67
:I am completely wowed by my most
successful clients commitment.
68
:They show up unbelievably
consistently with so much care
69
:and thought for that ideal client.
70
:And that's the nub of it.
71
:They show up for their ideal client.
72
:It's not about them and that they're
busy and they don't feel like it.
73
:They show up because they know there are
people out there who need their help.
74
:So they show up regardless of
their own ego and their own
75
:schedule and whether they feel
like they can fit it in that day.
76
:And I think that is such an admirable
quality and something that I am so lucky
77
:to see in my clients cause it makes
me raise my own game every single day.
78
:Ask yourself are you being
your own best client?
79
:What would your best client be saying
and doing and how can you be that person?
80
:Our third point is getting
out of your comfort zone.
81
:And that means usually being visible.
82
:It's all too easy to stay behind the
scenes just finishing off your website
83
:when you are probably doing unconsciously
or consciously is avoiding the really,
84
:really scary part of building a
business, which is actually telling
85
:people what you do and consistently.
86
:The volume is significantly
underestimated.
87
:I heard this.
88
:great podcast talking about
the fact when he had a gym.
89
:His mentor told him to
put out some flyers.
90
:So he put out 300 flyers.
91
:And he got no calls back at
all from these 300 fliers.
92
:So he was gearing up to like
have a go at his mentor that
93
:is completely wasted his time.
94
:And this doesn't work.
95
:This is rubbish.
96
:And his mentor said to him, How
many flyers did you put out?
97
:And he said 300.
98
:And his mentor said.
99
:I put out 3000 a day and
that's just for testing.
100
:So he said, I, my God, like I felt like
such a fool that I was complaining at
101
:this guy when actually all I needed
to do was do more and do better.
102
:And I think that's a huge wake up
call to what it feels like when you
103
:start your business and you think,
I've popped my first ever post.
104
:And it's been so exhausting doing
that one thing that you cannot
105
:believe that you're meant to do the
exact same thing again tomorrow.
106
:And so I think just remember
that story about 300 leaflets
107
:to advertise the gym versus 3000
leaflets a day to advertise the gym.
108
:The fourth mindset I see in my most
successful clients is taking full
109
:responsibility for your own actions.
110
:One of the first books I read when
I started my coaching business
111
:was Carol Dweck's mindset book.
112
:And it was a real game changer in helping
me let go of victim mentality and seeing
113
:everything as outside of my control.
114
:And instead how I can take
radical responsibility for my
115
:own progress and know that.
116
:I have choices.
117
:I make decisions.
118
:I can learn.
119
:So, if you ever hear yourself say no
one's ever going to buy my services.
120
:Then you are in a fixed mindset.
121
:And seeing that situation as
completely outside of your control.
122
:If anyone in this industry,
in your niche is successful.
123
:Then go out there and think what are
they doing that you aren't doing?
124
:So, for example, Are they
posting consistently?
125
:Are they collaborating with people?
126
:And yes, you might find that triggering,
but it's also really essential to ask
127
:yourself, these challenging questions
as to how can you act as if you are
128
:that successful coach, the top 1% of
your niche and the go-to expert in your
129
:space and what would they be doing?
130
:What would they be saying?
131
:Know, that you have a choice.
132
:And if you don't take
responsibility and build your dream.
133
:Then you will go and get a job
and build someone else's dream.
134
:Yes, that is tough love, but
that is the genuine truth.
135
:And as I say, Wows me every single day.
136
:And helps me to strive to be better.
137
:My fifth point today is be
willing to experiment and fail.
138
:This is a big one because it takes
huge courage to do something like
139
:host workshop and there's always going
to be like, what if no one signs up.
140
:And that is what will stop most
people from hosting a workshop.
141
:So, if you have ever done big brave things
like this, know that you are willing
142
:to experiment and fail, and that is the
key to entrepreneurship and success.
143
:It's all about you and finding your
strengths and your mindset and the things
144
:that you love doing to make this work.
145
:So there is no one size fits
all, and I really bring that into
146
:everything I do in my program.
147
:Some people are successful on TikTok.
148
:Some people are successful networking.
149
:Some on Instagram some on LinkedIn.
150
:Some doing public speaking.
151
:There are so many different ways of
doing it and the right way, it will
152
:be the right way that works for you.
153
:How can you hold this business lighter?
154
:Think about it like an experiment.
155
:Think about it like a game.
156
:How can you make it more fun?
157
:I love like celebrating all of the
no's you receive and a discovery call.
158
:How can you aim to get 10
nos in the next two weeks?
159
:So rather than thinking, oh my God,
I don't want to book a discovery call
160
:because what if the don't say yes.
161
:Aim for the nos and then
that will help you braver.
162
:So there are loads of ways of making
this into a fun game that helps you
163
:to hold the whole thing lighter.
164
:So let me summarize today's episode.
165
:My first mindset was celebrate your
wins like your life depends on it.
166
:Next up was pushing out
of your comfort zone.
167
:Then we talked about commitments
to your ideal clients.
168
:Taking personal responsibility
for your own actions.
169
:And finally being willing
to experiment and fail.
170
:So I would love to hear which of those you
have already in place and which of those
171
:you are wanting to work on and improve on.
172
:I know that it goes in peaks and
troughs and I used to get out
173
:of my comfort zone massively in
my first few years of business.
174
:And I've settled into quite
a rhythm at the moment.
175
:So tomorrow I am going to my first, maybe
my second ever in person networking group.
176
:I have built my entire business
online so going somewhere in person
177
:tomorrow morning where I don't know
anyone feels a little bit scary.
178
:So I am taking some of these lessons that
I've talked about today and pushing out
179
:of my own comfort zone by doing them.
180
:So I would love to hear
what it's prompted for you.
181
:Do drop me a line and let me
know on linked in as Joanna Lott,
182
:Joanna with an a lot with two T's.
183

:in yourself and be the wise Gardner
who keeps on watering the seeds.
