Hello and welcome to Women in
the Coaching Arena podcast.

:I'm so glad you are here.
3
:I'm Jo Lott, a business mentor
and ICF accredited coach
4
:Microphone (Samson Q2U Microphone):
and I help coaches to
5
:build brilliant businesses.
6
:I know that when you prepare to enter
the arena, there is fear, self doubt,
7
:comparison, anxiety, uncertainty.
8
:You can tend to armor up and
protect yourself from vulnerability.
9
:In this podcast, I'll be sharing
honest, not hype, practical and
10
:emotional tools to support you to make
the difference that you are here for.
11
:Dare greatly.
12
:You belong in this arena.
13
:Hello, welcome to the 51st episode
women in the coaching arena.
14
:I am so glad you are here.
15
:Today, I'm excited to share about creating
an online course or group program quickly.
16
:Because I am on the Sunday where my
five day challenge begins, where I
17
:will be helping people with this.
18
:So it was the perfect topic for today.
19
:So I'm going to break this
episode up into four phases.
20
:So firstly idea creation.
21
:So, what do you want to
create a course or program on?
22
:Really think about your
skills, your know how.
23
:Also what problem you
want to solve because.
24
:We don't want to create
a nice to have program.
25
:We need to create a must have
program that people are eager to buy.
26
:You'd really want to think about
that ideal client and build
27
:something perfectly for them.
28
:If it's not too strange, literally print
out a photo of someone who has this
29
:problem, who is your ideal client and in
everything you do, just create for them.
30
:Next up in this idea creation mode,
I would create your own model.
31
:So think about.
32
:What are the core fundamental
things that you want to teach?
33
:And how can you break that down in a
way that is your signature framework?
34
:You want to make it unique, make
it yours, bring in intellectual
35
:property where you can.
36
:So if you think about rice Krispies,
they became famous because they
37
:coined the term snap, crackle and pop.
38
:So they made a generic idea of a rice pop.
39
:Into an exciting concept.
40
:So you would want to think
about ways of doing that in your
41
:program so it's truly unique.
42
:So in mine, for example, I have the
Lott Last Minute launch formula which
43
:is kind of how I get things done
because I could easily say to myself,
44
:I'm not ready for this challenge.
45
:I need to put it off another few months
and many times have I wanted to do that?
46
:But I won't do that because I know that
sometimes you need some sort of pressure
47
:to actually make the thing happen.
48
:And I see in people I've had discovery
calls within the past, how long
49
:they allow themselves to go round
in circles on something that could
50
:just be a split-second decision.
51
:So really be brave and bring in your
unique strengths into your program.
52
:You also want to think about
your transformation statement.
53
:So a really clear statement that helps
people understand why they are buying
54
:your course, where they are going from
and where they are wanting to go to.
55
:Next up, you will want to think
of an amazing course name.
56
:This is something I find super tricky,
but it makes a big difference because it
57
:helps people to feel something and to buy
something we want to evoke those emotions.
58
:So people feel clear about what they're
buying or want to be involved in some way.
59
:Then comes the question of price.
60
:How much are you on Singh
to charge for your program?
61
:That was obviously depend on whether
there is any support or whether it
62
:is a pure online program without
support, which are usually less cost.
63
:And you also want to
test it with the market.
64
:I'm helping a pricing coach at the
moment, create his online course.
65
:And the other day I was saying to him
that he could charge for his first round.
66
:And he said to me that he doesn't
want to charge because he wants to
67
:be able to do a pricing analogy.
68
:So you ask people at the beginning.
69
:What are they wanting to pay and
you'd ask them at the end, what
70
:would they pay for that program?
71
:And he has a specific way of doing
it to really gauge an idea about
72
:what he should price that program at.
73
:So that was a super interesting
concept for me to learn about.
74
:You'd want to think about
your course creation strategy.
75
:So are you going to sell it
first and then create it?
76
:Are you going to deliver live
each week, or are you going to
77
:record your content straight up?
78
:There's no right answer.
79
:And there are several different
ways of doing it and the right way
80
:you will be the right way for you.
81
:Now for the most powerful moves that you
will ever make, which is choosing your
82
:launch date and scheduling backwards.
83
:So this is day one of my five
day challenge that I'm starting
84
:tomorrow is choosing those
dates and setting your goal.
85
:If you don't choose a date, I can
almost guarantee you that in a year's
86
:time we will meet and your course will
still not be out there in the world.
87
:So I just love this one and I cannot
wait to see the results for the
88
:people who have joined the challenge.
89
:Finishing up this phase, one idea
creation, you'll want to draw
90
:up a document with the details
and logistics of your program.
91
:That may be literally a word document,
or you may want to create a sales page,
92
:which usually takes longer and sales
pages is an entire training in itself.
93
:So it's not something I'm going to
go into today but a lot of sales
94
:psychology will go into this document
to really help people to see that
95
:this is the right next move for them.
96
:Okay.
97
:Now you've got an idea.
98
:You've got a document, you've
got a price, you've got a name.
99
:You've chosen your days.
100
:Next up, you need to validate that
this is something that people want.
101
:And this is a step that people often miss
because they are excited about creating
102
:and they don't want to get into speaking
to people and slowing down their progress.
103
:But the problem is you may then
spend a lot of time creating
104
:something that no one ever wants and
we'll never see the light of day.
105
:I spent a long time creating a lot of
programs when I first started my business.
106
:On general stuff like confidence
and sadly, no, one's really
107
:interested in general confidence.
108
:They are interested in a real
specific confidence for speaking up
109
:in meetings, confidence for asserting
themselves with their partner.
110
:We need to really think about that
end goal and if I had of known what
111
:I know now, I would have validated
my idea and then I may have learnt
112
:what people are willing to pay for.
113
:So moving onto phase three now
is the exciting creation phase.
114
:You will want to create an exciting,
welcome video that makes people step into
115
:what they're about to join, to help them
get excited to actually take those steps.
116
:When you are creating your content,
you'll need to make sure it's really
117
:short and formatted in a specific way.
118
:So people take action and get results
because there is nothing more depressing
119
:than a program where you can see that
no, one's actually logging in and
120
:no one's contacting you, if you have
support in your program with the outcome
121
:of that task, asking for feedback.
122
:That's something I do in my program.
123
:So people worked with the modules in
their own time, and then they send me
124
:their niche statement or whatever it
may be, and we chat it back and forth.
125
:So at each stage they make progress.
126
:They can tick that off their list.
127
:And then they're excited to move to module
two because it builds on module one.
128
:At this creation phase, you may be
deciding whether you are going to create
129
:it all in one hit or whether you are going
to drip out the content week on week.
130
:And that will enable you to create
each week that first time, because
131
:it is going to take a really
long time to create this content.
132
:So, if you don't drip feed it, you
could be there six months in still not
133
:selling the program because you won't
have that strong deadline of people
134
:waiting for that thing to be released.
135
:So I find the week on week drip feeding
helps me to create the content cause
136
:then I know people are waiting for
it, so I need to get on and create it.
137
:Yes, I would absolutely love to
do it all in one go, but usually
138
:it doesn't quite work out.
139
:Although I am very excited that I
have booked a four night break away by
140
:myself in Brighton the week after my
challenge, where I am going to put my
141
:head down and create as much as I can.
142
:So even though the program will release
week on week because I've done research
143
:and that's what people actually
want so they don't feel overwhelmed.
144
:And so they feel like they
are up to date with that task.
145
:Okay.
146
:We are in phase four.
147
:So this is the phase I am in with my
program Elevate at the moment, which
148
:is going to help people to master
online courses and group programs.
149
:There is so much involved
in this launch phase.
150
:I have been working super hard for
weeks on my launch for this program.
151
:You will really want to
ramp up your visibility.
152
:You'll want to know your numbers.
153
:It's really good to know that online
course creation and group creation is
154
:not usually something for beginners
because you need a audience to
155
:sell to several people at once.
156
:A 5% conversion rate is the average.
157
:Say, for example, in my challenge,
I have 200 people currently
158
:as part of my Facebook group.
159
:And that may mean that 10 people buy
my upsell at the end of the week,
160
:which is the step-by-step guide
to every single aspect that they
161
:will need to grow their program.
162
:So you will want to know this
when you are launching to.
163
:And therefore, if you can't get 50 to a
hundred people on a webinar for example,
164
:it might be hard to fill that program.
165
:But I do teach easy starter methods as
well, because often you wouldn't want
166
:to go to the first big launch if you
haven't got that type of audience yet.
167
:So there are other ways that you can
start getting that first program out
168
:there and over the line before you
start building up to bigger launches.
169
:I'm doing a five day challenge for this
particular launch, but usually I run a one
170
:hour workshop and it really helps people
to take that step towards you, learn
171
:from you, gain an insight and then decide
if they want to work with you further.
172
:Filling a workshop also
takes time and a lot of work.
173
:So you will want to promote
it for two weeks, ideally.
174
:Daily, maybe even several times a day.
175
:For example, when I was promoting
my challenge my mentor said that I
176
:needed to promote it six times a day.
177
:I must admit I did not promote it
six times a day, but I did go all in.
178
:I promoted it every single day,
including weekends and often twice a day.
179
:I also did some guest expert spots
where I spoke in groups that have
180
:my ideal clients so those people
might want to attend my challenge.
181
:So there's quite a bit involved
in filling your workshop, which at
182
:the end of the workshop is when you
actually sell and launch your program.
183
:If you're wondering whether
you definitely need to launch.
184
:You don't always, depending on,
if you have a few warm people
185
:in your audience already.
186
:You may also want to sell to
organizations which wouldn't
187
:need this launch phase at all.
188
:You would be more so directly
contacting organizations rather than
189
:doing a workshop or webinar online.
190
:There is a lot of admin
involved in this launch phase.
191
:So you would want to
set up a sign up page.
192
:Thank you page.
193
:You'd want to have lots of emails
scheduled to help people to gain
194
:the details of the workshop and then
follow up afterwards to see if they are
195
:interested in working with you further.
196
:I feel very excited that I have all
of these emails scheduled for change.
197
:Normally I am creating after the
workshop, but this is a huge launch
198
:with me going live seven days
a week, starting from tonight.
199
:So I really do need to have those things
scheduled or it just wouldn't be possible.
200
:The benefit of doing a five day challenge
is that people get to know like, and
201
:trust you even more than a workshop.
202
:But this is not for the faint hearted.
203
:This has taken a huge process.
204
:A lot of step-by-step instructions,
a system I'm following.
205
:So much tech that it's
actually mind blowing.
206
:And I'm very proud that I have
somehow managed to get all
207
:this tech flying out there.
208
:But this is definitely a more advanced
strategy and not something I would be
209
:recommending if you are just starting out.
210
:So huge.
211
:Congratulations.
212
:If you are at this stage, you
may have launched your program.
213
:And congratulate yourself now because
you are starting your program.
214
:So now you can create an amazing
onboarding experience for your
215
:clients depending on how you decided
to create your content you may
216
:still be creating week on week.
217
:If you are drip feeding your content.
218
:But just know that say at the end of
that 12 weeks, you will have created
219
:an asset in your business, which will
work hard for you time and time again.
220
:That makes me realize I
haven't talked much about the
221
:tech of hosting your course.
222
:It doesn't need to be as
complicated as everybody thinks.
223
:Yes, you might want a portal but there
are also other ways and I'm going to be
224
:covering those in the challenge this week.
225
:And they're suitable
for one-on-one as well.
226
:So I love some simple systems
that I use to collaborate with
227
:clients and move them through an.
228
:A to B transformation
really, really easily.
229
:So, as long as you set your date,
creating an online course or
230
:group, doesn't ,have to take years.
231
:Understand your audience outline
that program, set your day, create
232
:engaging content, leverage your
existing resources and network
233
:and launched that course quickly.
234
:Your goal is to share your
knowledge more widely in less time.
235
:So it is so worth your time.
236
:As long as you have your
priority set and your business.
237
:And if you are starting out, for example,
this would not be your first step usually.
238
:I would be focusing on one-to-one
clients, which is higher ticket usually
239
:than a group or a course and therefore
you will be able to bring in the income
240
:that you need when you're starting.
241
:So it all depends on you and
your goals as to whether this
242
:is the right next step for you.
243
:So, let me summarize today's episode.
244
:We covered four phases.
245
:So phase one was idea creation,
phase two, was validating your offer.
246
:Phase three was creation of your
program and phase four was launch.
247
:And then we congratulated you
for starting your program.
248
:So I hope it was helpful to get a quick
overview of the phases involved in
249
:creating your course or online program.
250
:If you want to join Elevate, where I
take you by the hand and share all of
251
:the resources, and all of the, know how
the canvas templates, the tech stuff,
252
:all of the things that you will need
to think about then do join elevate.
253
:It closes on Friday.
254
:the 8th of March.
255
:This isn't an evergreen program.
256
:So this isn't running all the time.
257
:So join now as it won't be running again
until at least the end of this year.
258
:So, like I say, at the end of every
episode, trust yourself, believe
259
:in yourself and be the wise Gardner
who keeps on watering the seed.
260
:Microphone (Samson Q2U Microphone):

266
:Let me know if you found
this episode useful.
267
:Share it with a friend and
leave me a review, and I will
268
:personally thank you for that.
269
:Remember to trust yourself, believe
in yourself and be the wise Gardner
270
:who keeps on watering the seed.
271
:Get into the arena dare, greatly and try.
